Benjamin Glidden Obituary

BENJAMIN JOHN GLIDDEN JR. Born on May 3, 1923, passed away at the VA Medical Center on Dec. 21, 2002. As a pilot in the USAF-491st Bomb Group during World War II, he received numerous medals while flying his B-24, "Flak-Shy". In 1958, he and his family moved from NJ to Singer Island to follow his passion for fishing. A gregarious agent for Met Life for 30 years, he made friends wherever he went. He is survived by his brothers Dick and Gene Glidden of New Jersey, his wife, Adrienne; his children, John Glidden and Nancy Oliver; daughter-in-law, Wendy Glidden; son-in-law, Ed Oliver; and his grandchildren, BJ Glidden, IV, Matthew Glidden, Christopher Glidden, David Oliver, Anne Oliver, Justin Oliver and Stephen Oliver. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 27, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach. For more information, please call 596-8211. In lieu of flowers, please send periodic "baskets of cheer'" for the other residents and staff of the South Wing of the VA Extended Care.
