Bernadine Novicki Obituary

Bernadine (Petriga) Novicki
Bernadine (Petriga) Novicki (1926-2020) passed away on December 7, 2020, 56 years later to the day that her mother, Anna, passed away in 1964. Bernadine's 95th birthday would have been January 28, 2021. As was her wish, Bernadine passed away at home lovingly surrounded by her daughter, Dolores, and her devoted twin grandchildren, Nikki and Rocco.
Bernadine, affectionately known as "Bee" or "Dee" but mostly "Grandma" (and "Poo Bear" to her granddaughter Nikki), was born on January 28, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the last of 14 children born to Anna and John Petriga. Bernadine married Edward Novicki and relocated to CT where they raised their children, daughter Dolores (WPB) and son Edward (VT). After her husband died in 1978, Bernadine moved to WPB to live with her daughter Dolores and husband Charlie, newborn twins, Nicole and Rocco, and Charlie's beloved grandfather, Rocco DiLisio. Bernadine began work for Publix and became a part-time employee with them for 20 years. When her twin grandchildren reached school age, she was regularly seen at St. Juliana School and Church in WPB and later at Cardinal Newman, at whatever sport or event her grandchildren were involved in. Bernadine was instrumental in helping care for Charlie's grandfather, Rocco, for which the entire DiLisio family was eternally grateful for the loving care she provided. He passed away at their home at the age of 96. Bernadine lived for one thing – her family and she was deeply devoted to them. She was always fun to be with, ready to go anywhere or do anything at a moment's notice. She enjoyed reading the newspaper (front to back), watching baseball (NY Yankees) and golf (Tiger Woods). Small in stature but full of energy and positivity, Bernadine was truly loved by everyone who knew her; she possessed a genuine kind heart coupled with a delightful sense of humor.
Bernadine is survived by her daughter, Dolores DiLisio (WPB), son, Edward Novicki (VT), twin grandchildren, Nicole DiLisio and Rocco DiLisio (WPB), grandson, Vincent Novicki (Christina) and great-grandson Calvin (NJ), grandson Phillip Novicki (NC), former son-in-law, Charlie DiLisio (Wendy) (Port St. Lucie), nephews, Ernest Dichele (Cape Canaveral) and Josh Dichele (Miami) among other loved family members. Due to Covid, a public service was not held. The family is thankful to the wonderful staff at Trustbridge Hospice and donations to Trustbridge have been greatly appreciated.
Oh, how we miss you,
Words cannot tell
Your bright happy face
That we loved so well;
Always loving,
True and kind,
What a beautiful memory
You left behind.
We love you forever, Poo, and will miss you every day of our lives.

I remember seeing Mrs. Novicki walking to Church on Sundays. She always had a smile and greeting for my mom & me. A lovely lady.

Mrs Novicki was the mom of my dear high school friend Dolores. Her loving smile and twinkling eyes everytime her children and their friends walked into her home was special. I will always remember her as a pint sized woman with a huge heart and the sweetest smile ever. May her soul rest in peace.
