Charles Irving Greer III, 70 years old, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, on Valentine's Day. Charles, "Sandy" a nick name he obtained as a kid, grew up in Greenacres, FL and attended Lake Worth High School in Lake Worth, FL. In 1965 he joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years. He served in Korea and Vietnam as a fireman and crash rescue, achieving the rank of Sargent. Upon returning to West Palm Beach, he continued his career in crash rescue at the Palm Beach International Airport where he retired after 26 years. He then worked at Tolliver Powder Coating with his son in West Palm Beach for ten years. Charles married Tanya A. Tolliver in 1971 and they were happily married for 45 years. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball with his sons, along with fishing and camping with his family. Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Edith Greer of Lake Clarke Shores, FL. Charles was survived by his spouse Tanya of Lake Clarke Shores, FL, his sons Charles Brandon and wife, Jennifer Greer of Lake Clarke Shores, FL; John Bryan and wife, Judith Greer of Arlington, VA; his grandchildren Alek, Ellie, John Christopher and Ethan Greer. Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at QUATTLEBAUM FUNERAL, CREMATION & EVENT CENTER at HILLCREST, 6411 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. Interment will take place in the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL at 10:15AM on Monday, February 20, 2017. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to The Dravet Syndrome Foundation at (www.dravetfoundation.com) or The Veterans of Foreign War at (www.vfw.org).
