DePUY, Jr., Clarence Edward "Ed"

Ed DePuy, 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home in Tallahassee, FL. He was born October 7, 1946 in West Palm Beach, FL to Clarence E. DePuy, Sr. and Margaret Coleman DePuy. Ed was a member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1964 and from Florida State University in 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Linda Evans DePuy, who died in 2006 after fighting breast cancer. He is survived by four children: Pete Mabry (Debbie) of Tallahassee, FL; Shannon DePuy Bream (Sheldon) of Washington, DC; K.C. Mabry (Leigh) of Jacksonville, FL; and Eddy DePuy (Merc) of Virginia Beach, VA. He also leaves behind his mother, Margaret Weatherly of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Peggy Land of Tallahassee, FL and brother, Tim DePuy (Crystal) of Port St. Joe, FL. Friends and family call Ed a "tremendous" guy and a true conservative. He spent 28 years working in law enforcement and criminal justice as a deputy sheriff in Seminole, Brevard and Leon Counties and worked as an investigator for the State Attorney's Office in Seminole County. He also worked as a Florida Highway Patrol trooper. Ed served on the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and supervised a staff of 130 employees while working as Division Director for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. As an at-large Leon County Commissioner from 2001-2008 Ed won over Republicans and Democrats alike.
