David Tapper Obituary

Dr. DAVID M. TAPPER Temple Beth-el Founder 80, died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Boca Community Hospital, Boca Raton, Florida. Born in Newark, NJ and was formerly of the Somerville, N.J. area for over 60 years before moving to Boynton Beach 21 years ago. David was self-employed as a Podiatrist for 40 years in Somerville retiring in 1982. He graduated from John Carroll College in 1943 and continued his education at Ohio College of Podiatry. Dr. Tapper was the past president of the American Academy of Podiatry Administration in 1972, and in 1978 he was the Man of the Year of the Big Ten Club of Podiatry, a former member of the Somerville Rotary Club. Dr. Tapper was the first president and was the founding member of Temple Beth El and past president of the National Hemophilia Foundation, Gold Coast Chapter. He is predeceased by his first wife, Jane, who died in 1981; second wife, Audrey in 1990, and a son, F. Bruce in 1997. Surviving is his daughter, Beatrice Kovich and her husband, Paul; four grandchildren: Kimberly Tapper, Elyse Cardon, Jane and Jaeger Kovich; and his companion, Lyna Morgan. Funeral services will be Thursday 9:30 AM at Temple Beth-El route 206, Hillsborough, NJ under the direction of Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 101 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville, NJ. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to National Hemophilia Assoc. and Pediatric Orthopaedics Dept. for Scoliosis, attn: Stephen Burke, Hospital for Special Surgery, 535 E. 70th St., NY, NY 10021.
