Denise COCHRAN Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family of Denise Vazquez Cochran announce her passing on April 26, 2018 following her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Denise graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School, attended The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and went on to be a professional award-winning photographer in South Florida, NY, Washington, DC and Los Angeles, as well as a model scout for the NEXT agency. Her love of fashion, photography, art and design continued throughout her life; most recently as owner of Vintage Mid Century Furnishings. Denise married Cyril Bradly Cochran on June 16, 1990, a loving husband by her side throughout her courageous fight. They have two children, Sophia Lia Cochran, soon to attend UF and Gavin Bradley Cochran attending FSU. She is also survived by her parents, Feliciano and Lia Vazquez; sisters, Cristina Keogh and Lia Dismuke; and brothers, Marcello and George Vazquez; and her beloved dog Toby as well as countless nieces, nephews and friends. Denise will always be remembered for her generous heart, great humor and love of life, and Jesus, where we know she now abides peacefully in His presence. Her greatest accomplishments, she would say, are her children and the wonderful young adults they have become. You will be missed sweet Denise, but we are filled with joy you are set free. Service will be held Saturday May 5th at 10:30am Christ Church, 4845 NE 25 Ave, Ft Lauderdale, FL. A wake will be held May 4th from 5-8pm at Horizon Funeral Home 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL. 33064. She will be laid to rest at City of Pompano Beach Cemetery.

I met Denise through her shop in Boca and was an immediate fan of her impeccable taste. Her kind, creative and vibrant spirit made it so easy to get into long chats about life and art. I've been away and out of the loop but was looking forward to reconnecting with her. She has been in my thoughts and I am saddened to learn she has passed to our Lord. My deepest, sincere condolences to her family and friends. I will forever look at the pieces I've been lucky to get from her with admiration of her strength and spirit. God Bless

Without a doubt our heavenly Father is the primary source of comfort. One way he helps us is by means of his holy spirit, a very powerful source of comfort. He promised if you ask for it he will give it to you. - Acts 9:31

Tonight my friends life was celebrated in a huge room with a constant flow of friends and families.Denise would have been humbled with the outpouring of love and the sadness so many people feel with her gone from our lives. Though I know she is walking beside Jesus now and no longer in pain, my heart hurts to know I won't be seeing her smile, sharing gossip, getting her advice on photos and decorating, planning for our daughters move to college, hangin out on weekends and sharing laughs and meals with our families and inner circle of friends, celebrating birthdays and holidays and talking about the places we would go when we became empty nesters. Though Brad and Ray knew each other in high school, Denise and I met when Sophia and Danielle were 4 years old, realized we were neighbors too and that began a friendship that quickly became more like family. Denise was a fierce mom who loved and guided her children, a supporting wife, a generous sister, daughter and friend. She was one of the funniest people I knew and her sense of humor was wicked, which is what I loved the most. She was honest and forgiving and generous with not a jealous bone in her body- always happy for other peoples good fortunes. When she got the diagnosis late last summer and through these last several months, she became my hero. Her faith, her strength, her love, never shined brighter. It was my privilege to help care for her and her family during her darkest hours these last months and be able to hold her hand a short while before she took her last breaths. Tomorrow we will celebrate your life sweet Denise and say our goodbyes but for me, it's only till we meet again. I love you my friend. My life was blessed and enriched by your friendship . My family will love and support and watch over your family always. Will miss you always D.❤
