Earl Danielson Obituary

Family-Placed Funeral Notice

EARL J. DANIELSON Earl J. Danielson, age 81, of Jupiter, Florida and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away at the Jupiter Medical Center Pavilion in the care of Hospice of Palm Beach County on June 9, 2005. Earl was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of Earl and Marie Kahle Danielson. Earl and his brother Harry grew up in Elm Grove. Earl graduated from Triadelphia High School and enrolled at Muskingum College where he met his lifelong sweetheart. He entered the Naval officer candidate program, earned a civil engineering degree at Illinois Institute of Technology, was commissioned and served with the Sea Bees in WWII. After the war he married and settled in Pittsburgh where he founded Quaker Engineering Inc. As a civil engineer, Earl's firm Quaker Engineering developed a significant part of the road and sanitary sewer infrastructure in Allegheny County and surrounding areas in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Earl's business interests expanded to include land development, residential and commercial building, and partnerships with some of Pittsburgh's finest home builders. He created many residential communities in Whitehall, Baldwin, Castle Shannon, Bethel Park, and other surrounding communities. Dashwood Estates in Bethel Park was his largest development and his last endeavor was to start Tuscany Estates in Union Township. Earl is survived by his beloved wife Mary Caste Danielson; his children: Christine Isham of Pensacola, FL, Earl Danielson III and his wife Susan of Santa Barbara, CA, Cynthia Klassen and her husband Bruce of Washington, PA, and Joanne Danielson of Cedarville, CA; his grandchildren: Heather and husband Jeff, Abigail, Andrew and wife Aneta, Cindy, Sarah, Dana, Julie, Stephani and Joshua; his great grandchildren: Sage, Mia, Alena, Hannah, Andrew; and many relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harry, and his grandson Christian. When he was not working, Earl traveled extensively and loved to bring his family to the beach. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, football (a lifelong Steeler fan), fine dining, and sports cars. Golf was his favorite pastime. He played famous courses throughout the United States, and was proud of his holes-in-one made at South Hills Country Club and Jonathan's Landing Golf Club. The Danielson family invites friends and relatives to join them in celebrating Earl's life with a Memorial Mass at St. Jude Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, June 15, 2005. A reception will follow at the Jonathan's Landing Golf Club. A Memorial Service will be held in Pittsburgh, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, 1230 South Old Dixie Hwy., Jupiter, FL 33458 or Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Arrangements are under the direction of Aycock Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 561-746-5124.

With sympathy and condolences to Mary, Cris, Earl, Cyndi and Joanne on the loss of Earl, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will all miss him so much. Earl was a unique man of strength and integrity -- a respected builder, a thinker, an extremely hard worker...and also a loving, devoted, admiring husband and father with a tender heart and a generous nature. I am very sad that I hadn't seen him since Christian's memorial service a year ago...now we will be returning to Pittsburgh for Earl's memorial service on June 25. Earl's legacy is not only the widespread development of communities and roads, but also, and especially meaningful to me, the close and loyal family he and Mary "built" and nurtured together. I am proud to be Earl's daughter-in-law...I benefited from his benevolence, encouragement and advice over the years. I regret that we lived so far apart...and that Earl was not healthy enough in the last few years to visit us in Santa Barbara to see the home his son has remodeled and enhanced so comfortably with skills learned as a boy and as a teen, working at his father's side... Earl III learned a lot from his Dad! In fact, I am eternally grateful to Earl the father for Earl the son, my husband :) Mary, whenever you are ready, whenever you can, please come and visit...you are always welcome! May God comfort, bless and keep you and every one of us by His Spirit, and lead us on the path to a joyful, heavenly reunion!
