Edgar Petersen Obituary
Singer Island - Edgar N. Petersen, 82, of Singer Island, Florida passed away on May 10, 2021. Edgar had a successful career as an international sales and corporate executive in the banking and retail systems industry. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle. An innately curious storyteller, lifelong learner, and world traveler. An accomplished businessman, he thrived in the company of friends and strangers with generosity and humor.
Edgar had a 22-year career with NCR, from South Africa as a Division Manager, to Canada as a Vice President, to Dayton as the Asst Vice President of NCR's Asia Pacific Region. In 1984, he worked for Diebold in North Canton as a Vice President, to establish their international markets for banking systems. He was named to the Boards of Diebold in Canada, South America and the Pacific regions. He retired in 1997.
Edgar leaves behind Valerie, his wife of 60 years; his children Leanne (Bob McCormick); Bradley (Christine); Lloyd (Julie Cooke); and his grandchildren Tyler McCormick (Amelia), Abigail Petersen, Olivia and Sydney Petersen.
A private family service has taken place at St. John's Episcopal Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edgar's name are suggested to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, www.michaeljfox.org/donate.
Our gratitude to the incredible nurses and staff of the Cleveland Clinic Hospice Care Center in Copley, Ohio who cared for Edgar the past two months.
