Frances Rosemarie Esernio
Frances Rosemarie Esernio died August 13, 2021, at the age of 91 at her home in West Palm Beach, Florida. Frances is survived by her daughters Diane D'Erasmo, Debra Esernio-Jenssen, and Maryann Bruce, her son Anthony Esernio, her daughters-in-law Kathleen and Cathleen, her sons-in-law, Raymond, Paul, and Ronald, her 13 grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Laura, Mark, Jessica, Robert III, Alexander, Jacklyn, Emily, Jeana, Victoria, Christopher, and James and her six great-grandchildren Thomas, Elle, Jack, Theo, Grace, and Lyla. Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert A. Esernio and her son Robert A. Esernio, Jr.
Fran graduated from St. John's University with a degree in accounting at a time when only 6% of U.S. women had completed college. But then she met Bob and put her career on hold to raise their 5 children. She returned to the work force later in life and was employed by several large accounting firms.
Fran was a devoted mother and a loyal friend. She was the quintessential hostess, always up for a party. Her grandchildren loved to visit Fran and Bob every February break. The kids loved her spaghetti and meatballs, chocolate chip cookies, and playing Rummikub and "31."
Fran also loved golf, bridge, and actively supporting women's rights. She was an avid reader, fashionista, and an influencer of those who sought her advice. She was a dear friend to and Board Member of The Breakers West Women's Connection and former President of the Breakers West Ladies Golf Association.
For those who had the privilege of knowing Fran, she will be most remembered for her warm and loving smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Frances Rosemarie Esernio can be made to the Peter J. Tobin College of Business Dean's Fund and mailed to St. John's University, attention Nicholas Legakis at 8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens, New York, 11439.
