Gertrude Smith-Jennings Obituary

GERTRUDE SMITH-JENNINGS Gertrude Smith-Jennings went to join her Lord at 6:30 a.m. Thursday in Santa Barbara, California. She leaves a legacy of love, hope and promise. A native of East Texas, Ms. Jennings spent much time in Palm Beach, Florida and was residing in Santa Barbara, California at the time of her death. Ms. Jennings was a strong godly woman who believed in the power of prayer. Her integrity, honesty and faith left an indelible mark on every life she touched. Her relationship with God and her love of her son, Ray Jennings- Roberson, were the central focus of her life. Ms. Jennings abided by her spiritual beliefs that you must love to be loved and forgive to be forgiven. She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her son Ray Jennings-Roberson of Santa Barbara, California. Pallbearers in Texas will be James Lathrop, Billy Parker, J.W. Parker, George Warren Roberson, Pete Lathrop and Scott Furnish. Services in Palestine, TX will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Dornbush and Rev. Larry Tilmon officiating. Services in Bel Air, California will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Bel Air Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mark Brewer officiating. Interment will be in the Santa Barbara Cemetery in California. Honorary Pallbearers in Bel Air will be Chris Douglas, Andrew Keegan, Dimitre Lekkos, James Barkley, Norm Korpi and Michael Leveridge. Condolence calls will be received in Palestine Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 7610 North Stemmons Frwy #600, Dallas, TX 75247-4228.
