Dear Tess
My sincere sympathies for the loss of your dear husband. He, in a "gentle giant" way was an icon in this area because of your restaurant and to your and his way of treating your friends and neighbors in such a sincere and openly friendly manner. I especially enjoyed our time together Tess, on the golf course at the "Nash" with the Tuesday Ladies league and "running" in to you and John at Trump's place when the LPGA was in town.
Only time heals the wounds of the heart. My heart goes out to you and your family.

It was always a treat when John G was in the restaurant. One of my best memories is the time we took our son and his girlfriend to eat there and another customer spilled his drink on her. The man didn't apologize or attempt to do anything but John saw it all. He came over to her, apologized, and said her meal was on the house. I already knew he was a man of class but that incident told me even more about him and why his business was so successful. I feel very blessed to have known him. My heart aches for his loved ones. Wendy, I have a hug for you the next time I come down.

Aunt Tess and family,
I'm afraid I didn't learn the news about Uncle John until just now. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. I had too few opportunities to visit with him and the rest of you over the past several years, but I still have fond memories of get togethers at your cottage in Canada.
Tess, I believe the last time I saw you and John was at Aunt Phyllis's wake. It was a delight to talk with the both of you.
Please accept my heart felt best wishes.

Started going to John G's in the early 1980's, when my children did ocean swims by the restaurant . John always greeted them warmly and lovingly. He was a special man.
Being a family restaurant we always felt comfortable, great food and service in a warm setting.
It remains a favorite and whenever the girls are in town one of the first things they ask is, " when are we going to John G's?

Dear Aunt Tess and Family,
Myrna and I were so sad to hear of Uncle Johns passing. He was a great guy and always had a good word to say to all. I remember visiting his dry cleaners near the old Olympia Stadium in Detroit and how he threw a big party at your house to celebrate your moving to Fla. Also he taught me how to fish for perch in Lake Erie when I was a little kid. God Bless, Mike & Myrna

John G's was a family to me since I was a little girl. I worked the take out window when I turned 16, and love the Giragos family more than they know. Wendy taught me discipline, Keith showed me delicious recipes, and Jay is an uncle to me. Without the amazing perserverience of Mr. Giragos; John G's and his amazing vision of wonderful food and great people would not exist. I love you guys and feel a loss in my own heart. Thank you John for such a wonderful restaurant and an amazing family.
I love you guys,
Cori

Aunt Tess/Cousins-
Sorry to hear about Uncle John. I enjoyed having lunch the last time he and Tess came though town several years ago. We reminisced about going to your summer place on the lake back in the late '60s when we were kids.I have several friends who come into the restaurant, one was just in a couple weeks ago and spoke to one of you.
I spoke to my dad, your Uncle Bob, this morning and will make sure your other cousins from our family are informed. Take care.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family. We never actually met but have eaten "with" you many many times over the years. We are so sorry for your loss but are also thankful for the continued excellence of John G's fare. It has been a tradition in our family to have breakfast with you the morning after the arrival of out of town guests. It is always a highlight of my sister's family from Italy. Another sister would call me and say she had dreamed about John G's cinnamon nut french toast. My father who would not stand in line for ANYTHING would stand in line for John G's (without too much complaining) Thank you for our memories and may God bless you with peace and comfort in your memories. My memories of cousin John go back to when I was a child living next door to him, Uncle Harry and Auntie Avagni on Linwood in Detroit. He was 20 years older than us but he was as much a child as we were and he always found time to play games with my brother and I. I admire him for having dreams and making them come true. I'll never forget the time we went to visit him at his home in Florida and he made this awesome salad with all sorts of delicious things in it and when he went to serve it the doorbell rang and it was the pizza delivery guy! It struck me funny that with all the great food he made in his restaurant every so often he enjoyed having a pizza delivered. My thoughts and prayers are with all my cousins. With Love.....

I was saddened to hear about John's passing. When I worked in the City Attorney's office John was always so pleasant to work with. He always remembered me when I came in John G's even after I left the City. Every time Mike and I come back to Lake Worth we make it a point to eat at the restaurant; and if John was there when we came, it was even better. He will be greatly missed by all, but it is also great that his legacy will continue. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

The contribution John made to the Palm Beach County community is more than just great food. He provided a unique setting for all of us to experience the priceless benefits of the transition zone between land and sea. I remember the week John opened the restaurant. He proudly showed me how he would preserve the history of the lunch counter in the Lake Worth Casino building by leaving the original sailfish on display. That week we enjoyed breakfast early one morning with seven judges assembled for our annual surfing contest at the pier, and I remember how thrilled John was to have a big group of regulars helping him launch his business. He ran a big ad in our ESA newsletter and I chose the title: "The best fish sandwich in Florida". It still is, and now that the Casino building will be saved, I extend my sympathy to the Giragos family with wishes for many happy years continuing John's legacy.
