JOHN THOMAS KOURY John Thomas Koury, 94, died peacefully on May 22, 2011 in West Palm Beach, FL. John was born April 28, 1917 in Detroit, MI to Peter and Malika Rahall Koury. The family moved to Quincy, MA where both his father and John worked at the shipyard. He served proudly in the US Army and married Rita Moisan in 1950. John served the city of Quincy as a school custodian, responsible for the maintenance of many school properties. He retired as the head custodian in 1980 after 30 years. John and Rita settled in West Palm Beach after touring the US and Canada in an RV for a couple of years. He was an avid reader with an inquisitive mind who also enjoyed horseracing and golf. John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Michael and George, and sisters Annie, Mary, Helen and Effie. He will be greatly missed by Richard, of San Francisco, CA, and Peter, of Pembroke, MA; Loraine, of Lambertville, NJ, his grandsons Peter Jr., Joseph, and Brian, and various nephews and nieces. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407. My sincere condolences to Uncle John's family.....I last talked to him several years ago when I attended a meeting in West Palm Beach and I have all of the good memories of the cookouts in the backyard in Braintree, the Easter Sunday celebrations on Chubbuck Street in Quincy, and the meals with my mother and father in Fort Lauderdale. I will always remember the stacks of the Daily Racing Forms and his love of handicapping the horse races.
