MCGANNON, John P. "Loving husband, father and grandfather" John P. "Jack" McGannon, 80, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed away peacefully on September 15, 2018 with family at his side. Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY to John McGannon and Mary Carlin on July 10, 1938. He graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School and St. Francis College. During his school days, he excelled at baseball and track. He won twice at the Penn Relays, held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA in 1956. He boxed and trained under the legendary Gil Clancy. He was a sparring partner for World Champion Emile Griffith. After college, he served in the US Army. He was married for 55 years to Patricia "Pat" McGannon. They raised a family in Brooklyn and then Rockville Centre, NY, and spent summers at Lake Wallkill in Sussex, NJ. He was an insurance agent at Allstate for 38 years. His generosity, loyalty, work ethic and commitment to his family and friends were an inspiration. His love of Brooklyn, telling stories and making Sunday breakfast for his family will be missed, but not forgotten. Jack is survived by his wife Pat and their six children, John D. (Juda) McGannon, Christian (Susanne) McGannon, Lawrence (Ana Cristina) McGannon, Pam (Todd) Alderton, Jeanne Marie McGannon and Serena McGannon. He is survived by his ten grandchildren, Katherine McGannon, Elisabeth McGannon, Christian McGannon, Alexandria McGannon, Jared McGannon, Maximus McGannon, Madison Alderton, Travis Jack Alderton, Ryan Alderton and Avery Alderton. He is survived by his brother William "Tom" (Maureen) McGannon and many nieces and nephews. His dog and pal, Sassy Bleu, also survives him. Jack is predeceased by his siblings Patrick McGannon, Mary Theresa Kearns, Agnes D'Ambrosio and Margaret McGannon. A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date in Sussex, NJ. We love you, Jack. We'll see you on the back nine.
