Dear Janet & Murphy Family:
When I first became involved with the vanilla bean business the first person I met was your dad, Kermit Murphy. My memories of him are pleasant ones as he was one who gave me advice in the beginning of my career. He was always upbeat and positive and someone you felt very good about after having a meeting with him.
I will always remember him as a gentleman who will be much missed by his old friends and the industry to which he contributed so much.
Sincerely,
Nick Gaffney

To the Murphy Families:
We usually got to see Kermit once a year (twice if we were lucky) somewhere on the "Cookie Circuit". He was always a gracious and entertaining host. We enjoyed his company very much and always looked for ward to seeing him. We would have gone out of our way to find him, but between his height, his favorite plaids, his deep voice, and the crowd that was usually in his presence he wasn't hard to find.
He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. There will be Kermit stories told for years to come.

Dear Arlene and Kermit's Children and families, We are just so very saddened to know of Kermit's passing. He was a wonderful person in so many ways. I remember his devotion to Aunt Ag and Uncle Albert so well. Jerry always enjoyed his visits so much. We were so fortunate to have known him so long, and we know the happiness you all brought him. Arlene, I will remember him at his old family Church tomorrow, and recall his last visit. Our love and prayers go out to all of you at this time. May God be your Comforter. Sincerely, Barbara Lewis and Family. (Davis,N.C.)
