I talked to my dad today and he saw your parents out and about. they said that i should stop by the next time im in town. the thing is i don't know if i can do that. the fact of walking in your house and seeing the dogs, the pool table where i never could beat you, and your room might be too much. i know your up there looking down on me. im finally almost done with college, i have 5 classes left and ill have a degree in hospitality. i think the thing that bothers me the most is i can't see you. i can't drive up the road and see you at your grave. the only thing i have to remind me of you is our pics and memories that were built over a lifetime of good times. the other day i got a picture of you engraved on a dog tag that hangs around my neck next to my heart. remember when we used to watch blow, and that famous quote came on "May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars" thats the quote i put on the back of the necklace. i miss you Kris, what i would give to have you back.

Sometimes it feels like I just haven't seen you in a while, and we'll run into eachother soon. Then it hits me and I know it will never happen. It's such a terrible empty feeling. I can't even imagine how your family is dealing with you being gone (especially your Mom).
Bryant- I read your last entry...and I feel the same way. I know Kris was your best friend and this is killing you. I cry just reading your words, I feel your pain.
It's so hard not to look at his house everytime I drive down Donald Ross. I think my mind is just trained to glance over to look for his car and wonder what he's up too. Now just like you said, you see his car but you know he's not there and never will be. God this sucks...
Stay strong.

Kris,
i sit here and wonder why you are gone. I drove down your street for the first time since you left all of us. i was at aaron's that night and everone couldn't stop talking about you. I was telling aaron that i don't know if i should be mad or happy that you are in a better place. i just wish that i could get answers about what had happened. I just wish that i could of saw you one last time. i know this might sound selfish, but it wasn't fair that you left without me seeing you. alot of times when i close my eyes i see you, it's just how i remember you always postivie and smiling. it has been months since you left but it seems like just yesterday. i sit, i sit here and wonder if other people feel the same way. when i go home and get off i-95 and start to drive by the house everyting is different. the hedges in the front lawn are over grown, the only car that is in the front of the house is yours, and your not there. i always think to myself "Kris is Home" but the the reality sets in. my best friend that made me who i am today is not here, i can't call him and say lets go surf or fish. i can't do anything, please come back!!!

Kris,
I wish that we had one last chance to catch up, and that you could of met David and Julia. I know you see her now, and that you are watching over us. Your dad met her at the paddle out, he made me promise to keep coming by- so that he could watch her grow. This is so hard for all of us, keep us strong. I miss you so much.

dobbs,
it has been an awful long tme since i got to see you last. that makes this even more difficult. none of us really have the perfect words to describe how this feels, and how you will be missed. i wish i could have seen you one last time, but find comfort in knowing that you will be saving a spot for all of us when we get there. you are loved by so many, and will be missed by all who met you.

Dear Kelly & Janice:
What a total shock this was to us. We have you in our hearts and are awfully sorry. We hope that you will find comfort when you look out at the ocean - we're sure he still rides the waves every day. God Bless you.

Kris,
Your journey began with stick handling a hockey puck on the ice rinks in Mound, and continued to fishing off the docks on Diamond Lake. OH..., but your spirit took to the waves in surfing. You then ventured further out to sea and enjoyed ocean fishing. You have the most loving and caring parents and brothers, for in return your compassionate heart touched everyone you met. As a Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend your smile was most infectious. Everyone you met could not help but smile with you. Now you can look upon all the people you touched and know that a great many are so blessed with having known you. I will forever be looking out past the shores of Diamond Lake and know that you are there.
Loving you always, Aunt Cheryl

The first night I met Kris was 1987 when he and Kelly dad drove down with Ron (Kris' uncle) in Ron's brand new Mustang. Kris came running out of the room with his pajamas. I said, "Oh, look, you have your camouflage jamies on." Kris said in his Minnesotian accent, "It's not camouflage, it's camouFLASH." I will cherish that memory always.

I heard from him not but one month ago. It was his voice on my voicemail. I called the number, it was a friend. I was hoping to have a beer, have a laugh, spend some time. The first time I surfed loggerhead was with him. He rode my local motion cut-off. Years and Years went by.... We progressed so much. I miss your family, I miss you. I can't believe this, and wish I could have been a part of his memorial service. This is far more than tragic, I can't submit words that justify my feelings. His name at the top of this page, which was randomly checked by my e-mail. God, if you are out there, please help us. I miss you. I miss you. Janice, kelly, I hopw that I can cominucate with you, and stay strong.
I love you all more than life.

I am so sorry for your loss and can't imagine the pain you are going through. My prayers are with you and your family.

I am heartbroken to receive this sorrowful news. My memory of Kris still has him in diapers propped up on his mother's hip on a summer morning just after Sunday soccer practice with his dad. I am sorry I never knew Kris as a man. I wish your family tremendous strength to weather this loss just as I hope you gradually find solace recounting wonderful memories of a beautiful life.

It is with great sadness that we send this note. That day and night that we packed you up and sent you on your way to FL with the kids seems like yesterday. Know that Kris and your family are in our prayers. Even though we have lost touch over the years, also know that you are not forgotten. We pray that you will remain strong in your time of sorrow and loss. We are sure that Kris was an outstanding young man with a zest for life and a passion for adventure and that he will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Celebrate his life.

Tenderly,

Gently,
Friends ease pain.
Softly,
Peace replaces heartache and warmest memories remain.

Dear Kris,
sometimes we wonder why
that our loved ones have to die
as we sit and cry
we wonder why this happened
we never got to say goodbye
and though we all wish we could
i suppose God had a plan
and somehow this is all for the good
all though we know not why
he chose you to be by his side
i hope there is a time when i see you again
until then we love you our friend

If tears could build a stairway
and memories were a lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
to bring you home again
A heart of gold stopped beating
Two shining eyes at rest
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best
No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
and only God knows why
Our hearts ache in sadness
as our tears flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know

Dear Kris,
I can not believe that you are gone. You were an amazing person, so full of fun and light. I remember all the great times in middle school and our freshman year at Dwyer we had together - just reading Surfer magazine and talking about how you were so much cooler (and a better Surfer)than any of the Malloy brothers. I am so sorry that we didn't keep in touch more throughout the years. Jen told me that she ran in to you a while ago downtown and that it was so good to see you. And she is the one who told me you were gone. I really can't believe that you aren't here, I was just looking through all the pictures we took on the last day of school in Middle school - I don't know if you remember it but you were goofing around and wearing a paper crown (from Burger king - where did we even get that?)and you just have this huge smile on your face. That's how I'll always think of you. Either with a huge smile or scanning the beach at Loggerhead. Much love to you, your family and all of your friends. Love, Marilyn
