I miss you, Shelly. I remember announcing to you about 27 years ago when our daughters were in pre-school that you were going to be my friend. Never did that before or since. didn't know you but I overheard you needed a place for your genius daughter three nights a week so you could continue college. I needed someone to watch my, er, "challenging" daughter 2 nights a week to get my practice started again. An arrangement made in heaven. My husband was working VERY long hours, so if it wasn't for you I would have been "a single mother with a husband". We were joined at the hip for years.....or by rocking chairs on the front porch. She abandoned me for Palm Beach County but I forgave her. We went through dozens of ups and downs during the years. I will feel a hole when those things happen in the future. We talked about our girls and my husband incessantly. I didn't "get" my husband's sarcastic sense of humor but Shelly thought he was hilarious and "translated" him for me.
At least she left me the amazing daughter she so generously share with us.
