Margery Cohen Obituary

Family-Placed Funeral Notice

MARGERY JOYCE COHEN Of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away Monday April 25, 2005 at the age of 60. She was a classically trained musician with a degree in music performance and education. While living in New York her passion for music evolved into a leadership role as she managed the Schenectady Symphony, Binghamton Pops and ultimately the Executive Director of the Pasadena Pops in Pasadena, California. She and her husband moved to Florida in 1995 where she developed new musical roots by volunteering at the Boca Pops and the the Gold Coast Chamber Music Festival. Community involvement was also very important to her. She was most recently a volunteer with the Boynton branch of the Palm Beach County library as well as a volunteer tutor for underprivileged children. Margery was an exceptional wheelchair athlete and was very active in the local wheelchair tennis league. She had recently won 2nd place at a regional tournament. Anyone who spent even a minute with her knew that they had made a life-long friend. She leaves behind Lester, her husband of 37 years, her daughters Lianne (husband Steve) and Sidra (husband Peter) and three beloved grandchildren, Miriam, Deena and Hannah. She also leaves behind her mother Ruthe Sager, younger brother Ken, her father Leonard, many other relatives and countless friends. She touched the lives of many people with her positive attitude and zest for life and will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel on 11115 Jog Road, Wednesday, April 27 (TODAY) at 4PM. Should you wish to make a donation in Marge's memory a gift to the National Wheelchair Sports Fund located at 251 S. County Road, Palm Beach FL 33480 would be greatly appreciated. It is with love that we remember our Mom, wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend.
