Mark LIEBERMAN Obituary

LIEBERMAN, Mark H.
Mark Herbert Lieberman, former CEO of Londontown Corporation, the maker of London Fog rainwear and outerwear, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and close friends, on Friday, June 26, 2015. He was 78 and resided in Juno Beach, Florida. Mark was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 20, 1936, the son of Morris and Rose Lieberman. He attended Erasmus High School. Looking for a way to help support his widowed mother in Brooklyn, Mark began caring for horses in New York City's Prospect Park at the age of 13. This job sparked a passion for riding horses that evolved into various leadership roles, including riding instruction, which he utilized at several summer camps in the Catskill Mountains. His skill at riding horses and his drive to compete was a gateway into participating in many bareback and saddle bronco events at rodeos throughout the nation. Mark was a veteran serving three years in the United States Navy, during the Korean Conflict. His business career began at Esquire Shoe Polish, followed by Revlon, American Home Products, and J.B. Williams. However, his innovative leadership really began to flourish when he joined London Fog, resulting in remarkable corporate advancements. Mark began his employment at London Fog in 1977 as Vice President of Marketing. His potential was demonstrated by his hard work and perseverance, and in 1981 was named President. During his tenure at Fog, he was instrumental in the growth and product line diversification that created unprecedented revenue increases in the company. In 1988, Mark led a group of more than 50 employees in the management buyout of Fog's parent company. Under his influence and leadership as CEO, London Fog continued to be the country's leading manufacturer of rainwear and outerwear. Giving back to the community, Mark served on the Board of Directors for the Lady Maryland Foundation (Living Classrooms), and through his personal interest and the generosity and sponsorship by his company, he was instrumental in the launch and ongoing success of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. In addition, he was involved in numerous charities and community programs. Mark had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, specifically as it relates to plants, flowers, and gardening. His unique affinity for growing orchids was recognized by many. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, boating, Fox News, and spending time with the people he loved. Mark will be remembered for how he connected with people and his unpretentious, genuine, and humorous interactions with them. He had the ability to mentor and impart his wisdom to countless individuals. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Willie; children and their spouses, Danny and Kelly Lieberman, Suzie Lawyer, Jennifer and Matthew Waldman, and son-in-law Mark Goldstone; grandchildren, Corey and Jessica Goldstone, Madison and Michael Lieberman, Joshua, Mayson, Max, Katie, Chloe, and Isabella Lawyer, and Julianne and Miles Waldman; and his loyal and devoted caretaker and friend, Tiko. Daughter, Mindy Lieberman, son-in-law, Kevin Lawyer, and stepson, Jimmy Reid, predeceased him. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Church in the Farms, 13475 W. Indiantown Road, Jupiter, Florida at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Bright Futures Academy, Charter School: EDU-GARDEN PROGRAM at 10350 Riverside Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33408.

Mark was a special person.
A person seen best by the simple, unpretentious, understated manner in which he carried himself.
His dry wit.
I could always ask myself what Mark would do and know that he would be right.
His dignity.
His devotion to Willie
His immeasurable pride in his family.
His steadfast and trusted friendship.
Thanks, Mark, for being our friend,
Lonnie and Barbara
