Family-Placed Obituary

MARTHA C. BATTISTA A resident of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, died Tuesday the 13 of October at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey. Born in 1928 in the Flatbush Section of Brooklyn, Martha was the daughter of Angelo and Teresa Colite. She received a Masters of Arts degree in history, Magna Cum Laude from Long Island University. Martha moved to Newark, New Jersey where she taught first grade and met her beloved husband Guido, the brother of the school nurse. Martha and Guido moved to Hanover Township and were blessed with three children. She was very active in the community as co-founder of the Countrywood Womans Club, a member of the PTA. She was a 20-year volunteer at Morris View Nursing Home. She enjoyed her winters on the sunny shores of Palm Beach Gardens and her summers on the sandy beaches of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. She was a magnificent cook, and a gracious host. She was best known and loved by many for her kind heart, optimistic outlook on life and her compassionate nature which she extended to everyone she met. Previously deceased is her husband Guido W. Battista. Beloved mother of Robert Battista, Michael Battista his wife Tracey, and Theresa Needham. Loving grandmother of Robert G. Battista, William H. Needham, Jacqueline Battista, Brandon Needham, Christopher Battista, Michael J. Battista Jr., Candice Needham, and Natalie Battista. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday October 17 at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927 at 9:30AM, Friends may call at the Bradley- Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. Whippany, NJ 07981 on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM friends are also invited to the funeral home on Saturday from 8-9AM. To the entire Battista Family, Martha was an excellent example of a classy woman. She was an incredible friend to my parents, George and Edna Katz, and like an aunt to my brother Herb and me. We will always remember her grace and style. May she rest know ing she raised a wonderful family. Our thoughts are with you.
