Mary HORTON Obituary

HORTON, Mary G.
Mary G. Horton, 90, of North Palm Beach, FL and formerly of Duxbury, MA, passed away peacefully in her home and with family, on Easter Sunday afternoon, April 16, 2017. Mary leaves behind her beloved husband of 67 years, Wesley Horton, also of North Palm Beach, FL.
Born on June 24, 1926 in Taunton, MA, Mary was the daughter of the late James and Isabel "Missy" Gillon. Following high school, Mary graduated from The Chandler School in Boston. Mary married Wes Horton in 1950 and after starting their lives together in both Beverly and Danvers, MA, they moved to Duxbury in 1973, where they continued to raise their family. Mary was an active community volunteer, serving on several committees and fundraising events. Mary was a Trustee for the Jordan Hospital (now Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital) of Plymouth, MA, member of The Duxbury Yacht Club and former member of the Duxbury Garden Club. Mary loved gardening in her retirement years and both she and Wes shared their mutual happiness at sea, where they spent countless summer days on their sailboat "Just Right", sailing extensively throughout the Cape and Islands with friends and family. Mary would often joke about her relief found in sailing, after so many failed experiences on golf courses and tennis courts! Mary's sharp wit and sense of humor will always be remembered. Mary was predeceased by two sons, Jeffrey and Robert. In addition to husband Wes, Mary leaves behind son David Horton, and wife Lisa, of Weymouth, MA; son Wes Horton and wife Susan, of Marshfield, MA; daughter Elizabeth Horton, also of North Palm Beach FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Due to travel concerns, services will remain private. Mary, Wes and her family are forever grateful for the many great memories and kindness of friends over her years.

Words, however kind, can't mend your heartache; but, those who care and share your loss wish you comfort and peace of mind. May you find strength in the love of family, the warm embrace of friends; and the loving promises of Almighty God that there is a hope of seeing your loved one again. My condolences.
