Matthew J. Blum
Matthew J. Blum was practicing landings and takeoffs — known as "touch and goes" — at Boca Raton Airport just before the crash. His home-built Aventura II plane faltered, crumpling onto westbound Yamato Road and killing Blum on Sunday, killing Blum.

When tragedy strikes and takes the life of our loved ones, many cry out with great sorrow. Your tears are not unnoticed by Our Heavenly Father. Although your deep pain will not easily disappear, prayer to God will bring comfort to you as you grieve. The Bible assures us God "is healing the broken hearted ones, and is binding up their painful spot." Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I only knew Matt though were I worked at Vutec corp. He was always one who had to make a point of saying hello. He did some sculpure work there & was very respected & a man who loved life.
may god bless.

Blum family, we are so sad for your loss and pray that your fond memories help you through this time. Matthew clearly "lived" life and valued his family! We always enjoyed visiting with him at Flakowitz or at his dock when we'd come to pick up the Schraier family for a day of boating and fun. We even ran into Michael recently at Two Georges. I have never meet Matt's family, but I've known him at Boca Airport and sometimes have conversations about planes and flying. I learn from him, and I want you to know how sad I feel to hear of his death.
He was a good and experienced pilot, he was also a fine person.I especially enjoyed his sense of humor.
His death is a loss for everyone.

As a private pilot myself, I am sure that Matt was ecstatic whenever in flight as pilot-in-command. Whatever went wrong was apparently accidental and happened very quickly, hardly lessening the feeling to have "slipped the surley bonds of Earth... and touched the face of God" (John Magee 1919-1941). Our thoughts go out to you at this sad time.
