Henry Michael
Henry Michael Burkhardt, 70 years old, of West Palm Beach, FL died on Monday, February 20, 2017 following a brief illness. Born at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Michael was proud of his pioneer heritage as a great-grandnephew of Henry John Burkhardt, the last Barefoot Mailman; a great-grandson of Louis W. Burkhardt, a municipal Judge and the Mayor of West Palm Beach in 1902; and a son of Vincent L. (Sara Frances) Burkhardt, who served as Chairman of the South Florida Fair from 1977 to 1988. Like father, like son, Michael was elected Chairman of the South Florida Fair from 2005 to 2007 and was later named a Distinguished Trustee. A lifelong resident of the Palm Beach area, he was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School, Class of 1964; a member of the Exchange Club; a past president of the Lake Worth Pioneer's Association; and a co-owner of Palm Beach Electric Inc. and the subsequent Burkhardt and Birdsong Electric Inc. until his retirement in 2001. Michael exemplified a life of faith as a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2075; a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Andrew Doherty Assembly 0155; a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (EOHS); and an Associate of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND). He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marsha Stanhope Burkhardt; three siblings, Veronica Burkhardt Birdsong, Margaret Cheryl Burkhardt, and Vincent George Burkhardt (Sharon); numerous loving nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Pease (Roger), and Marylou Griswold; and his feline friend, Maggie. Mike exemplified Love, Kindness, Goodness and Gentleness to everyone who knew him.

Mike will always be remembered by me as a very good friend who loved life! He and Marsha found me at St. John's Catholic Church in Interlachen, Fla. We met in the first grade and St. Juliana's and then went on to Cardinal Newman! God bless him!

Mike and I went thru St. Juliana's - great times together. After that he went to CNHS and I went to FHHS. He was a good friend, then. I moved back to Pt St Lucie, Fla in 2016 and have been catching up with people.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Still can't believe Mike is gone. I just came across an old photo from Dec 1967 with Mike and other friends around my dinning room table. It was a great memory.

He was always happy and energetic with a smile on his face. I was so happy when he met and married Marsha. A class act. He was involved in so many activities, that I'm sure he had many friends that miss him.

So sorry for your loss Marsha. I remember when you and Mike came in for dinner at Lock Stock and Barrel restaurant when I was managing it. Praying for you during this time and know Mike is with the Lord.

So sad to hear of Mike's passing. I remember Mike as a classmate growing up in WPB and going to St. Juliana's and PBJC. He was fun loving with a great sense of humor. He was always active and full of life. Mike was a great role model and born leader who wanted to get involved with faith based groups and organizations that did community service.

Marsha, I was so happy when Mike met and married you. I thought you guys were perfect together. I send my sincerest condolences to you and his Family.
