Priscilla SEARCY Obituary

SEARCY,
Priscilla Eden Gulliford
Priscilla Eden Gulliford Searcy was born on February 19, 1948 to William Irving and Marie Anthony Gulliford in Roanoke, Virginia. At age 4, her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida and then to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, where she grew up and attended Fletcher High School, becoming a varsity cheerleader and Miss Fletcher. On May 8, 1963, while Priscilla was in the 9th grade, she began going steady with Christian Dietrich Searcy. They remained together through college in Virginia and married on October 11, 1969. Priscilla taught 3rd grade at Holy Name Catholic School in St. Petersburg, Florida to put Chris through law school at Stetson Law. They moved to Miami in 1973 to begin Chris's law practice. After several years, they moved to North Palm Beach where they have lived the past 41 years. She was a devout Christian of the Catholic faith. Priscilla gave birth to four wonderful children - Henry Faulk Searcy, II, Christian Dietrich Searcy, Jr., Angela Eden Searcy Coriell, and William Eric Searcy. They graced her with three extraordinary grandchildren - Elizabeth Lynn, Alexander Henry, and Christian Dietrich Searcy, III. In addition, she became mother to 16 more extraordinary young adults who lived as members of the family as tutor companions to their autistic son, Henry. Priscilla devoted herself to her husband, children, grandchildren, and the many fantastic friends she developed over the years. From chairing the Festival of the Trees as a member of the Junior League to co-chairing the Benjamin School Bash to serving as First Lady of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, Priscilla left a lasting impression on all she met. She was in her element at the Lime House in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas and enjoyed relaxing with friends over a game of Scrabble, Words With Friends, or bridge. Nothing gave her more excitement than decorating a friend or family member's house, matchmaking, using her deal-finding skills to shower her family and friends with gifts, or watching a University of Virginia basketball victory. More than any accomplishment, she sowed the seeds of love. She loved God, she loved people, and she loved life. A viewing has been scheduled for 3-6 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home located at 754 U.S. Hwy 1, North Palm Beach, FL, 33408, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at St. Paul of the Cross Church located at 10970 Jack Nicklaus Dr., North Palm Beach, FL, 33408. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Best Buddies organization, attn. Natalie Van Eron, 100 SE 2nd St. - Suite 2200, Miami, FL, 33131 or to the University of Virginia Priscilla Searcy endowment, c/o the University of Virginia Alumni Association, PO Box 400314, Charlottesville, VA, 22904-4314.

I was one of her 3rd grade students. We all thought she was so beautiful and her ponytail hairdo. She made an impact on my young life. Mr Searcy you and your family are in my thoughts.

I received your newsletter and I once again looked at all the wonderful photos. What a beautiful lady inside and out! So gorgeous. Such a romance since 9th grade. Such a fun, loving and incredible family. Really a beautiful life well lived. I feel so fortunate to have known Priscilla. I still remember all her great advise to me for our Jillian. She was such an intelligent, vivacious, loving person. I will never forget her.

Chris, your wife sounds like just the sweetheart I would expect you to share a life with. While no one can fully understand the depth of your grief I can at least understand much of it. I lost my wife to Pancreatic cancer one year ago after a 2 yr battle. While the pain does not go away, time will at least allow one to "adjust" to it being a part of your life. Truly, may u know some comfort in this difficult time. Sending you kind thoughts.

Priscilla told me once that when she first laid eyes on Chris in the Ponte Vedra store back in the 60"s, that he was the one. And ever since then the story of their relationship and their family's story is one that is respected and admired by all. The love, the caring and the commitment to helping others shines through in each and every member of the Searcy family. May God give you the strength to hold your heads up high and carry on, because she would not want it any other way.

March 24, 2016

Chris and family, as a c/o 65 Fletcher alumni, please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. After viewing the lovely pictures it is so clear that yours was a love story that fairy tales are made of. Gob bless you and your family as you heal from this heart breaking loss. Sandy Smith, Jax. Priscilla,
Good times come and good times go, but there are a few things you should know, knowing you has been my pleasure, friends are blessings without measure, I'll make new friends, no doubt I'm told, but they will be silver where you were GOLD. We have shared some laughs and some tears, I'll remember them throughout the years. So today as I say good bye, I'll say a prayer to God on High to bless your family in all they do, because it has been my pleasure knowing you.
You will always be in my heart and I will miss my "We" dearly.
Love and sympathy to all the family. Kathie Simon
