Randi Gorenberg Obituary

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman who was shot in the head, pushed from a black Mercedes SUV and found dead near Morikami Park Friday afternoon as Randi M. Gorenberg, 52, of Boca Raton, said PBSO spokesman Paul Miller. An autopsy this afternoon concluded Gorenberg died of a gunshot wound to the head. She was married to Dr. Stewart Gorenberg, 52, a chiropractor at Fort Lauderdale Accident and Injury Center on South Andrews Avenue. The couple has two children. Miller said Saturday afternoon that Dr. Gorenberg had been cooperative with the sheriff’s office in the investigation and that the Mercedes GL450 from which the woman was pushed is registered under his name. The vehicle was being searched this afternoon. A sheriff’s office community service aide found the vehicle abandoned behind a Home Depot around 2 p.m. Friday, with a blood-stained interior. “We do have some promising leads in the case. We are looking to see if anyone may have seen anything near the park,” Miller said. PBSO is also seeking information about what happened behind the Home Depot where the SUV was found. Anyone with information about the case should contact PBSO Detective John Cogburn at (561) 688-4063 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)458-TIPS.

Dan,
It's Renee from USF/ Mu Dorm. I just saw the story on E! about your mom. I could not believe that such a horrible thing happened to you and your family. I know we lost touch with each other but I still think of you often. I hope that you are able to go on after such a loss and that you can be the special person that you were going to be. Dear Idey,

I am sure you will remember me - Georgene Barger. We met when I sang for your tour group, and later you came to Paradiso Restaurant in Boca when I was performing there.

I heard about your loss on the news last year when it happened. I did not call because I figured you would be very busy with your family and friends. I want you to know that I have prayed for you many times.

My daughter is all I have. When I heard about your daughter, both last year and today, it brought tears to my eyes - but still, I cannot possibly know what you are going through. My heart goes out to you.

Your are a lovely lady and a wonderful person. I hope that you will be able to find peace and comfort in your family, and in good memories of your daughter's life.

God Bless You.

The Gorenberg Family:
I watched the Dateline special last night regarding the awful murders occuring in Boca Raton. I was a friend of Dan's at USF and could not believe that this happened to your family. I sincerely hope that whoever did this is captured and brought to justice. I lost my mother this last September and know how hard it is. I can't even imagine having to deal with not only the loss, but the grief of knowing it was such a senseless crime. I will keep your family in my prayers.

The loss of your wife, mother, daughter, friend has touched so many. My mother always said there was a lesson in everything. I hope one day a lesson can be found in this but cannot imagine what positive could come from such a senseless act with no regard to others. I'm sorry for your loss and even though I was only 19 when my mother passed, it isn't the same for everyone. Dr.Gorenberg, I'm glad you have your children and so many who knew such joy from your lovely wife.

Condolences to you on this tragic loss. Although we do not know you, we have relatives and friends who have connections to the immediate family. It really opens and saddens your eyes to those individuals and felons that make our day to day lives very untrusting and difficult. It is no consolation to you at this mourning time period but your loss will save many other indiviudals down the road, as a result of the importance of safety and security to be provided by owners in public places. Unfortunately, your family has suffered the most harsh result and our deepest feelings are extended to you. May our "rightous" leader provide the support to you with this horrible bereavement and add assistance to the police in finding and terminating this ill-minded individual or group.

Daniel and sari, you probably don't remember me but your mother loaned me maternity clothes when i was pregnant with lindsay, who is just a little older than you sari. she needed them back because she found out she was pregnant with you. we know each other from high school. i remember when she and your dad just moved to florida. i was already living in boca. you're right, your mom was always a wonderful kind person. Even at james Madison when alot of girls had a stuck up attitude your mom was a friend to everyone. One thing I'm so happy is that your Grandma is around. She will be someone you can lean on. Dear Idey - I was just sick when I read about Randi. She was my most favorite friend I ever had, even though it wasn't for that long, when she lived in Boca Pointe. I used to go over to her apartment every night after work and we'd watch VH1 together. That was when the kids were very young and I used to call Sarie "Sarabelle". Randi loved it when I called her that. I wish we had stayed in touch but our lives took different turns and we grew apart. I wanted to come to the funeral but my daughter had strep throat. As a member of the news media, a former deputy sheriff, and a victim of crime, I honestly have to tell you, that I am not immune to raw emotion.

It was in a professional capacity, that I attended the funeral of a woman I never met. A beloved Wife, Mother and Daughter. Since then, not a day goes by, that I don’t think of Randi Gorenberg and her family. How their lives have been torn asunder. They too, have become victims of this horrendous crime.

The words “I love you” and “I love you more” were used in eulogizing Randi. This is vocabulary that was a part of her life. It should be a part of ours as well…and used often, to those that matter. Tomorrow is not a promise!

I extend my heartfelt sympathy to the Gorenberg family.
