Rhona Barbara
Rhona Barbara Pillersdorf passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning December 21, 2016 at her home in North Palm Beach, FL surrounded by her family. The matriarch of the Pillersdorf Family, Rhona is survived by her husband Dr. Alan Pillersdorf; her four children, Lance and wife Stacy, Alex and wife Jessica, Geoffrey and Tara; her sister Shirlee and husband Roger; brother-in-law Gary; her five grandchildren Harper, Aiden, Lucas, Mia and Chase; and her nieces and nephews, Stephanie and husband Josh, Lowell and wife Lauren, Andrew, Faith and husband Dave and Greg. Rhona loved family, could always be found talking to and helping her relatives across the country and her memory will live on with her countless cousins and friends. A native of Brooklyn, NY, Rhona attended the University of Buffalo where she met her husband of over 40 years, Alan. In 1990, she moved with her family from New York to South Florida. She quickly became a popular member of the community and worked tirelessly to ensure her family adjusted to their new home. Rhona took care of her four children while working full-time with her husband to build Plastic Surgery of Palm Beach from a fledging start-up practice to a thriving enterprise serving all of Palm Beach County. She bravely fought cancer for more than 21 months and willed herself to seeing the birth of her fifth grandchild, while not missing any of her other grandchildren's birthdays, graduations and other special occasions. Rhona was always there, a constant presence and truly loved by all. Her final days were shared with her favorite annual tradition of hosting Thanksgiving at home with her immediate and extended family. She was an amazing woman, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend who will be missed by everyone she touched. We love you Nana. No one ever had a bad word to say about Rhona, a kind, loving person who was always so warm to Ila and my family. And she gave me my other partner in life -- her son Lance who runs our business at Stillwell -- and three other great kids + a boatload of grandkids. We will miss you Rhona, and never forget you, and always be there for Alan.

Rhona was the matriarch not only of an amazing family but of a successful surgical practice which serves an entire community with compassionate care and generosity. She employed and mentored countless young people who make a difference in the lives of patients and who pass on that legacy far and wide. Her husband, family, friends, employees, and patients were always her priority. On a personal note, she was like a second mom to me during a difficult time in my life and I am forever indebted. Rest in a duly earned and justly deserved peace, dear Rhona.
