Family-Placed Funeral Notice
ROBERT J. CHENOWETH “BOB” Age 81, of Ocean Ridge, FL, since 1961 passed away May 15, 2004. He worked in insurance claims adjustment and management until receiving his BA from FAU in Boca Raton. He was a police officer with Manalapan, Ocean Ridge, PB Co. Parks and P.B. Sheriffs Office. Bob enjoyed working with youth and was a youth counselor and administrator with DYS, HRS and the PB Co. Juvenile court, from which he retired in 1989. Bob served in the South Pacific in WWII with the US Marine Corps., earning the silver star for bravery and three battle stars. He enjoyed many reunions with his buddies from VMF-123. Bob was a member of the School Board and the Board of Adjustment in Holmel Twp., NJ and active with Little League before moving to South Florida. In Ocean Ridge he helped form the Coastal Volunteer Fire Dept. in Ocean Ridge, which later merged into the Dept. of Public Safety. He served on the FAU Alumni Assn. Board as well as on a host of other activities. Bob enjoyed golfing, boating, theatre, reading, sports and traveled extensively with his wife and family on cross country motor home trips, cruises and foreign tours. Despite recent loss of sight and mobility, Bob never lost his gentle sense of humor and love of life. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Roberta Roberts Chenoweth; three daughters, Carol Chenoweth (Mark Goldman) of Tallahassee, Roberta Lynn Lima (Miguel) of Lake Worth and Debra Simpson of Gulfstream; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lima of California, Miguel Lima Jr. of Orlando, Leben Goldman of Tallahassee and Sarah Goldman Blodgett (Adam) of Georgia; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:00PM Saturday, June 26, 2004 with Father Samuel Zebron of St. Mark Parish officiating at the First United Methodist Church, 101 N. Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL. Immediately following, a celebration of Robert Chenoweth's life at the same address. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of PB Co., Inc., 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or St. Mark Renovation Fund, St. Mark Parish, 643 NE 4th Ave., Boynton Beach, FL 33435.
