Family-Placed Obituary

RUBY SHIRLEY April 22, 1923—March 9, 2010 Mrs. Ruby Ramey Shirley, age 86, wife of the late Aubrey Newton "Bud" Shirley of Anderson, SC died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Oconee County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Albert Ramey and Lucinda Ramey. She was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas and was a member of the Women's Retirees Group. Ruby was a member of Homeland Park United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her son, Thomas Michael Shirley of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; daughters, Margaret Vollrath of Anderson, SC, Luanne Shirley of the home and Colleen McNabb of Apollo Beach, FL; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Homeland Park United Methodist Church, Anderson, SC, officiated by Reverends Steve Compton and Joseph Vollrath. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson, SC from 6 PM-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homeland Park UMC, c/o 120 Glenwood Avenue, Anderson, SC 29625. A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.
