Family-Placed Obituary

SARAH ROGERS MCCULLOUGH Sarah Rogers McCullough died Sunday, September 25, 2011, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Sarah was born February 14, 1924 in Bethune, SC. Sarah received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilson Teachers College in Washington, DC and her Masters degree at George Washington University. For twenty-eight years she was employed by Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, MD as a teacher of English and History, Counselor and Guidance Administrator. She retired in July 1980 and moved to Atlantis, FL where she has resided ever since. She has been a member of the Atlantis Country Club for over twenty years. Sarah was a member of the Coterie Club of the Palm Beaches for many years, their major project being prevention of child abuse. In addition to her love of golf, her major activities were photography, crafts and sewing. Sarah loved and experienced life to the fullest and was loved by all who knew her. Preceded in death by her daughter, Marianna McCullough Holbrook. Survived by her husband of fifty years, C. William McCullough; her son, William Arthur McCullough (Shirley); son-in-law, Bryan Eugene Holbrook (Lisa); brother-in-law, James McCullough (Tina); special friend and attendant, Christina "Mayo" Carabuccia; and loyal companion Jill II. Final arrangements will be provided by National Cremation & Burial Society. A cremation ceremony (not a funeral) will be held at the Atlantis Country Club at a future date.
