Sophie PANKAUSKI Obituary

Of West Palm Beach passed away peacefully in the early morning of Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Lourdes Noreen-McKeen assisted living facility in West Palm Beach. She is survived by her son, James; her daughter-in-law, Laura, and grandchildren, Jonathan and Michael, all of Harrington Park, New Jersey; and son, John of West Palm Beach. Sophie moved to West Palm Beach in September of 2011, almost a year after the loss of her husband of fifty years, Alphonse. Sophie grew up in Peabody, Massachusetts, the daughter of Felicia and Adolph Lachowicz, who emigrated from Poland at the turn of the last century. Sophie worked at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. before starting a family, which she raised in their Peabody home. She was active with St. Joseph's Parish before the Peabody church was closed, and she and Al wintered in Jupiter, Florida for approximately twenty years.
