1946-2013 Todd Wasserman Devoted his life to helping others to heal. He chose the extremely difficult and emotionally taxing but rewarding professional life of a Radiation Oncologist. He often had to tell someone that they had cancer, and worked hard to comfort his patients and their families, relieve their pain, and find a cure wherever a cure could be found. Todd was a Professor of Radiation Oncology for 32 years at Washington University in St. Louis. When he retired in 2003 and became a Professor Emeritus his patients honored and thanked him, and in 2004, Washington University established the Dr. Todd Wasserman Visiting Lectureship in Radiation Oncology. Todd held numerous ?Celebration of Life? events at Washington University where his surviving patients (and there were so many) came together and celebrated their lives. Todd was a giant in his profession, consulting and lecturing all over the world. He organized major research meetings and clinical trials that he chaired or co-chaired yielded important positive results. Todd built and chaired the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis (1981-2001). He was the National Cancer Institute (1973-1976) and at the University of California San Francisco (1976-1979). He was the sole winner of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) resident research award in 1978. Since 1973, Todd held many leadership roles in RTOG (Radiation Therapy Oncology Group), a worldwide leader in conducting radiation oncology research. He was also a member of ASTRO, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and numerous other cancer organizations. The only thing that equaled Todd?s love of medicine was the love he had for his family. Todd leaves a wonderful legacy to life and although he is gone in body, he will always forever remain in our hearts. Todd is survived by his wife Patti, mother Ruth, daughter Amy (Jonathan), son Derek, grandson Ethan, sister Lisa (Herb), brother Steven (David), stepchildren Jenifer (Jonathan) and Andy (Carrie) and their four children. He is also survived by his nephew Adam (Kathi), niece Allison and many cousins and friends who are going to miss him terribly.
