Sorry to hear about your Dads passing . Your Mom and Millie.Your parents were lovely people

October 6, 2014

I am very sad to hear about your Dad. I was recently thinking of him. I have realized (as I grow older) that there are a few people that have a profound influence on you in your younger years that stretch into the rest of your of your life. Both your parents had such influence on me. As you may see from my face book page I am the owner of a figure skating shop in Greenwich. ( I have sold my sole to skating) We sell skates skating apparel and accessories and sharpen and maintain blades and equipment. I continue to teach skating. Your father taught me how to sharpen skates. Of course his influence on me was far greater. He showed me a disciplined mind that frankly I haven't been able to match. He was my first 'boss' against which I have measured all my other bosses. They all fell short of Bill.( Probably why I am self employed.)I would have liked to show him the shop. Someday if you are in the Shelton to Greenwich area we could have lunch. I teach skating in Shelton. My daughter and I coach a synchronized skating team at the Rinks at Shelton as well as teach privately. I'd like to show you the shop in Greenwich. Let me know what your doing. Say hi to the family and express my regrets. Hope you are well.

Nannette-It has been a long time but I saw the sad news of your dad's passing and I had to tell you how sorry I am It is so difficult to loose a parent. I remember all of the wonderful family dinners when I stayed over your house and how envious I was because we didn't do that. (I also remember helping with the dishes while your parents had coffee and their time and heaven help anyone who disturbed them!) Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss.

Willie, as we fondly called him, was a great friend with whom I skated with. He was a friend for many years. I was in his wedding and he was in mine back in 1953! The last time we saw him was at Ruth's wake. He was a great friend and I'm sorry we didn't keep in touch. Elaine & Tom Duff
