Joseph Antonio Vidaurri

1935 - 2024

Joseph Antonio Vidaurri, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, in Blythe, California. He was born on April 7, 1935, in Calexico, California, to Joseph and Juliete Vidaurri.

In 1940, he and his family moved to the Palo Verde Valley, where his father worked at Riverview Farms. At a young age, Joe began working alongside his father, marking the start of a lifelong career in agriculture. Joe dedicated over 65 years to the agricultural industry eventually retiring from Robinson Farms at the age of 80.

It was in Blythe that Joe met the love of his life, Florence Johnson. They were united in marriage in 1958 in Vista, California. Together, they raised two children, Juliette and Andy, and were blessed with grandchildren Justin, Jayden, Jessica, Joseph, Jill, Emma, Kate, and great-grandchildren Kaiden, Owenn, and Benjamin.

Joe was passionate about spending time with family and friends, whether at the river or in the desert. His hobbies were varied and included flying model airplanes, riding Harleys, camping, woodworking, archery, racing stock cars, maintaining a well-manicured yard. Joe was also known for keeping the neighborhood lively and would often be found at Steaks n Cakes where he loved to eat and visit with friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Florence, his father Joseph, mother Juliete, brothers George and Bobby and sister Mary. He is survived by his daughter, Juliette (Jack) Barron, son Andy (LeeAnn) Vidaurri, and siblings Mercedes Silva, Albert Vidaurri, and LaVern Shasky, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Blythe Golf Course, located at 3480 Quail Run Road, Blythe, California, at 11 a.m.

He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
