PONTIAC - Brad A. Mehrkens, age 59, of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Sugar Grove, IL.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL. Everyone is invited to attend a public, graveside service on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at South Side Cemetery in Pontiac, with Pastor Jason Woolever officiating. Following the service, all are invited to Bob & Ringo's Tavern to share memories and fellowship.
Brad was born on February 19, 1965, in Fairbury, IL, to Joseph and Peggy (Sutter) Mehrkens. Peggy survives in Pontiac, IL. He married Kara (Wolf) Mehrkens on August 21, 1993, in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac, IL.
Other survivors include his beloved daughters: Lauren Mehrkens of Princeton, IL, Andrea Mehrkens of Chicago, IL and Samantha Mehrkens of Pontiac, IL; siblings: Mark (Kim) Mehrkens of Pontiac, IL, Nicole (Matt) Blaetz of Pontiac, IL; brothers-in-law: Robert (Heather) Wolf of Gardner, IL and Richard (Claudia) Wolf of Morris, IL. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Mehrkens.
Brad graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1983 and then attended Illinois Central College. He worked for the Illinois Department of Agriculture, owned Bob & Ringo's Tavern, and also worked beside his family at Donnell's Printing and Office Products for over 40 years.
He was the Pontiac Elk's Exalted Ruler and the Illinois State Elk of the Year.
Brad enjoyed being with friends and family, golfing, and watching sports. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He enjoyed going to the Pontiac Holiday Tournament every year as well as traveling to golf tournaments including the Masters. A favorite pastime was having great conversations with his friends at Bob & Ringo's.
Above all, Brad loved his family. He especially loved spending time with his wife and three daughters whom he adored and loved with his whole heart. He was the best husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and friend that you could have ever asked for.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorials in Brad's memory may be made to Future's Unlimited in Pontiac, IL.
