BLOOMINGTON - Brendan H. Carolan, 89, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Martin Health Center in Bloomington.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Rev. Steven Loftus officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Normal. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home of Bloomington is assisting the family.
Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Cursillo.
Brendan was born on June 9, 1936, in Ardmore, Pa., the son of Hugh and Sarah (Daugherty) Carolan. He married H. Ann Carolan on March 2, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pa. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Linda Lucas Bloomington, William Carolan Palm Springs, Calif., and Nancy (Tim) O'Connell LaGrange; grandchildren, Rachel Lucas, Zachary Lucas, Jacob Lucas, Stephanie (Eric) O'Neil, Patrick Bradley, Tim (Caitlin Murphy) O'Connell, Carolan (Michael) Sinickas, Abbie O'Connell, and Jack O'Connell; and great-granddaughter, Lily O'Neil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Janice (Chuck) Berry; his son-in-law, Jerry Lucas; and his siblings, Mary Rodgers, John Carolan, Eileen Texter, and Tom Carolan.
After graduating from high school, Brendan proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. He then began a 38-year career with State Farm Insurance Company, during which he and his family relocated from Philadelphia to Monroe, Louisiana, and eventually to the company's corporate headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois.
Brendan and Ann were deeply involved in the Cursillo movement, forming many lifelong friendships through their service. In 1997, Brendan was ordained a Deacon at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and devoted many of his retirement years to ministry there, including serving as Spiritual Director of Ministry with Cursillo. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Christian Motorcycle Association.
