BLOOMINGTON - Carl Robert Mittelstaedt, 83, of Bloomington passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Chuck Bahn officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois.
Carl was born on November 21, 1941 in Bloomington, a son to Herman F. and Bernadine (Buckles) Mittelstaedt. His parents, sister, Betty Hall, and brothers, Herman, Jr. and Tom preceded him in death.
Surviving are his brother, John Mittelstaedt, and nieces and nephews, Joanie Price, Cory Price, Kyle Price, Isabella Price, Fred Mittelstaedt, and Mark Mittelstaedt.
Carl served his country as a medical corpsman combat medic specialist in the United States Army. He obtained the rank of Sargant during the Vietnam War. He became a school educator and was later employed with Rowe Construction Company as a foreman. For over 60 years, Carl was a loyal member of the Laborers Local 362.
Carl was an avid reader and also enjoyed his horses and dogs on his farm. He was a kind-hearted Christian man who will be missed by all who loved him and knew him.
