Carl E. Rice, 78, of Normal, Ill., passed away on November 9, 2025, at the Loft in Normal, Ill.
Before his death, Carl had been retired for over 20 years from Verizon (formerly GTE) and had been living in the Ironwood subdivision in Normal. In his free time, Carl was an avid golfer and in his earlier years had the opportunity to travel across the country with his friend, Ken Fleer, to play at some of the top courses in the country. He even scored a hole-in-one at the Illinois State golf course! Along with golf, Carl enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, gardening and supporting his favorite sports teams which included the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
Carl is survived by his son, Michael, who lives in Bloomington, and his sister, Valerie, who lives in Chicago.
A funeral service will be held at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield, Ill., on Friday, November 14th. Burial will follow at Williamsfield cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Rux Funeral Homes at 103 E. Gale Street, Williamsfield, IL 61489, or online at the following address:

Carl Rice-The perfect gentleman to travel with while we worked at Verizon together. He would meet the plane, carry hour luggage and always had a list if places we just had to visit and give our opinions. He loved his mother and treated her as a queen. He would have moved mountains for her. Sure hope the angels take him to her first. Rest in peace, Carl.
