David D. Rieger
March 18, 1953 - May 29, 2024
FARMER CITY - David D. Rieger, 71, of Farmer City and Forrest, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
David was born on March 18, 1953, in Fairbury, to Donald J. and Dolores (Monahan) Rieger. His parents, his sister-in-law Tina Rieger, and his beloved pets Emma and ET, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his siblings: Jamie Rieger of Forrest, Micki (Rod) Zimmerman of Chatsworth, Danny (Becky) Rieger of Bloomington, Pam Rieger of Chicago, Tony (Laura) Rieger of Oglesby, Rod (Pam) Rieger of Thornton, CO, Judy (John) Szabo of Bloomington, and, Chris (Angie) Rieger of Madison,WI; and by 26 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and his constant four legged companion, Pepper.
David worked for several golf courses, before retiring after 23 years as a Golf Course Superintendent at Woodlawn Country Club in Farmer City. He loved being outdoors, spending time with his family, friends and his Golden Retrievers. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
The family would like to especially thank Chris Hammack for working along side David and being his best friend.
A memorial mass for David will be at Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Chatsworth, IL, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David's memory may be made to Humane Society of Central Illinois located at 423 North Kays Dr., Normal, IL, 61761.
