Dorothy Pistole Obituary
May 7, 1937 - March 2, 2025
Dorothy M. Pistole, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Secor, IL passed away on March 2, 2025. Calvert, Belangee, Bruce Funeral Home in Heyworth, IL is handling the arrangements. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on March 10. The funeral will be at 11:00 am on March 11 at the funeral home, followed by burial services at the Heyworth Cemetery.
Dottie was born on May 7, 1937, in Covell, IL to Edward A.H. Ehling and Olga Toepke Ehling. She married Richard "Dick" Pistole on November 13,1959, in Bloomington. He survives. Also surviving are their children Todd (Tammy) Pistole and Vicki (Jeff) Orns; grandchildren Nathan (Carrie) Spaulding, Shane (Elly) Spaulding-Radi, Drake (Chris Lim) Pistole, Isaac (Jackie) Orns, and Rebecca (Drew) Martin; and eight great-grandchildren with one on the way.
Other survivors include siblings Velma Pfeifer and Dean "Pete" Ehling, brother-in-law Steve Wissmiller, and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Loren Ehling, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a niece.
Dottie graduated from Heyworth High School and Illinois Commercial College in Champaign, IL. She worked at Ralston Purina, Union Insurance, and State Farm Insurance. She was also a secretary at Heyworth Grade School, where she always had a smile for every child. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Welsh, LA, where she served as Elder and Clerk of Session.
Dottie treasured time with her family. She enjoyed playing bridge and bingo. At the age of 87, she learned to play the chimes and performed in the Luther Oaks ensemble.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Yesterday
I was lucky enough to know Dottie when my child went to Heyworth Grade School, also when her son played pony league baseball on a team I helped coach. Fast forward a few years, I got to know Dottie through softball, she kept score and was the paymaster for us umpires. A few years later I was thrilled when she joined State Farm. We worked together, rode back and forth to work together for many years and because softball was forever a part of our lives, I truly loved Dottie and will always treasure the times I spent with Dottie her husband Dick, son Todd and daughter Vickie.

Dorothy was someone I wanted to meet but it never happened. I knew of her through Vicki and prayed for her every day. I know this is a great loss to Vicki, Jeff, Dick and the many other family members.
