Eric Kelley

On October 22, Eric Kelley, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 62. Eric was born on April 27, 1963, in Bloomington to Harry "Bud" Kelley and Judith Mikel Kelley.

He attended Villa Grove High School. He worked at Modahl & Scott in Bloomington as an operating engineer for several years. Later, he was a stay-at-home dad while his children were young. In 1998, he started Kelley Home Inspections, where he retired in 2022.

On September 17, 1988, he married Lisa Ann Patton. They have two sons, Austin and Mitch, and a daughter, Erin.

Eric enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children's sporting events. He rarely missed a game. He was also a big fan of ILLINI football, the Seattle Seahawks, Indy car racing, and Elvis Presley. He loved to tell jokes and get everyone laughing. Woodworking was a hobby of his, and he built a boat that he was very proud of and took it out on the Vermillion River. He was a man of many projects!

Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Judy, and his father, Bud. He is survived by his wife, Lisa and three children, Austin (Brandi) Kelley, Erin (Kayla) Kelley, and Mitchell Kelley. He is also survived by his sister, Tanya (Mark Newberry) Alexander; his mother, Connie Kelley; two brothers-in-law, Brad (Ginger) Patton and John (Brigid Wright) Patton; his aunt and uncle, Jim and Nancy Mikel; as well as several cousins, nieces, a nephew, and the longtime companion of his late mother, John Vanek.

We will miss Eric with all our hearts.

To honor Eric's wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no formal funeral service. The family invites you to please privately celebrate Eric's memory in your own ways. We know that he will be with us all in spirit. There will be a celebration to honor Eric at a later date. Eric's wishes were to have a celebration, laugh, and remember his life in a happy way.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may to made to the charity of the donor's choice.
