Eugene "Gene" Denick

March 29, 1944 - Dec. 27, 2023

FAIRBURY - Eugene "Gene" Denick, 79, Tucson, AZ, and formerly of Fairbury, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in Tucson.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury followed by his funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Midwest Food Bank–Tucson Location, 829 S. 6th Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85701. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.

Gene was born March 29, 1944 in Fairbury the son of Edwin Milton and Elsie Matilda (Broquard) Denick. He married Karen Ellis on September 17, 1967 in Fairbury. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2020.

Survivors include a daughter, Robin (Glenn) Davis, Tucson, AZ; sisters-in-law: Dawn (Richard) Huber, Fairbury, Beverly (Wayne) Stotler, Hudson, Shirley Denick, Bloomington; and cousin, Bonnie Bach, Peoria.

Gene retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1999. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury and later became a member of the Tucson Apostolic Christian Church.

Gene served in the Army National Guard from November 8, 1964 until November 7, 1970 obtaining the rank of Sargeant.

Gene was a skilled gunsmith, trap shooter, computer buff, and amateur radio operator.
