Evelyn Glenn

1935 - 2025

Evelyn Joan Glenn, 90, of Normal, Illinois, passed away on October 26, 2025, at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.

Born on April 5, 1935, in rural Danvers, she was the daughter of William L. and Rachel Walls Schweiman. Known to many as Joan, she was raised on farm life in the Danvers and Heyworth areas. She attended local schools and graduated from Heyworth High School.

On September 25, 1954, she married Loren "Doc" Glenn in Folkston, Georgia, during his service in the U.S. Navy. They shared a life together until his passing on November 22, 1991. Joan was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

She is survived by her four sons: Doug (Sue) of Florissant, MO; Dan (Vickie) of Danvers; Bob (Ginger) of Lakewood, CO; and Tom (Lisa) of Waukesha, WI. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers-in-law Darrell of Bloomington and Jerry (Betty) of St. Charles, MO, along with many nieces and nephews.

Joan's faith was central throughout her life. She was a devoted member of several congregations over the years, including Stanford Presbyterian, Trinity Lutheran, and Zion Lutheran churches.

Together with Doc, Joan farmed through 1987 in rural Bloomington while raising their sons. A dedicated homemaker and mother, she took pride in gardening, canning, supporting school and 4-H activities, and assisting during planting and harvest seasons. Later she worked various jobs in Bloomington while caring for her husband's illness. She cherished time outdoors-often seen trimming shrubs or mowing her two-acre yard-and loved cheering on her grandchildren at ball games.

In accordance with her wishes, Joan will be cremated. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
