His all-time favorite was Dave Bruebeck. Bruebeck corresponded with him for years. Jim loved working in his yard and won "Yard of the Year" awards. Jim was a master at crossword puzzles and created a master dictionary for crossword puzzles.

Jim is survived by his wife of 77 years, Myra Eileen (Willhoite) Robinson; his sister-in-law Marion (Dewayne "Willy" Willoite). Also surviving are his two sons, Jeffrey (Joanne) Robinson and David (Linda) Robinson; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was a 54-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, later joining the First Lutheran Church of Pontiac. He was a former member of the Pontiac Moose Lodge and Central Illinois Musicians Union.
