NORMAL - Janet Marlene Leach, 88, of Normal, IL, formerly of Minier, IL, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Sugar Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center, Normal.
She was cremated. Private family inurnment will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean, IL, at a later date.
Marlene was born August 13, 1935, in McLean, IL, to Lamar and Sylvia (King) Grant. She married Wendell Dale Leach on October 20, 1957, in Minier, IL. He passed away on December 8, 2008.
She is survived by her children: Bradley Leach, Bloomington, and Melanie (Matthew) Perschnick, also of Bloomington; and her grandchildren: Finn and Tess Perschnick.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; stepfather, Olof Stone; sisters: Marilyn Hoch, Eleanor Howard and Carolyn Grant; and brother-in-law, Wayne Howard.
Marlene graduated from Stanford High School and attended Brown's Business College. She spent her early career working at TV stations and advertising agencies in Bloomington and Peoria. She became a homemaker after her children were born. She particularly loved country living, spending over 50 years in the same home in rural Minier.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Bloomington Public Schools Band Foundation, attn: Max Chernick, Bloomington HS, 1202 E. Locust St., Bloomington, IL, 61701; or to an organization of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL.
