John Monterastelli

April 10, 1935 - October 30, 2025

BLOOMINGTON - John Monterastelli, 90, of Bloomington passed away on October 30, 2025 at his home. He was born on April 10, 1935 in Ottawa, Ill. to Charles and Christina (Vittone) Monterastelli. On August 3, 1969, in Chenoa he married Jane Sullivan, she preceded him in death in 2022.

John is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three sisters: Ernestine Kutz, Gilda Kennedy, Erma Dulian, and two brothers, Arthur Monterastelli and Nello Monterastelli.

He was a graduate of Putnam County High School and graduated from Barber College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. John "Monte" worked as a barber and was owner of Monte & Larry's Barbershop on Front Street in Bloomington, Ill. for many years.

Monte loved to fish, garden, entertain, socialize and dine out. He was a very positive, kind, and generous person. He was loved by all.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home in Bloomington, Ill. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Services at the funeral home from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #56. Online condolences can be left at www.carmodyflynn.com.
