March 23, 1948 - November 5, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael P. Dumler announces his peaceful passing on November 5, 2025 in Towanda, Illinois. He was born on March 23, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Herman A. Dumler and Julia G. Dumler (Terry).
Mike's academic path ended at the University of Kentucky where he proudly received his Doctorate of Business Administration degree. With his DBA degree, he was hired by Illinois State University and began a fulfilling and successful career as a professor in the Department of Business. He retired in 2012 after 30 years of teaching.
He is remembered for his passion toward woodworking, photography, tinkering on anything with an engine, and seeking moments to share a laugh with family and friends. Mike will always be remembered for his unwavering love for his family as a dedicated husband, and a proud and loving father and grandfather. His social qualities made him a steadfast friend whose quiet strength and kindness touched many.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children, Irena Medina (Bryce) and Daniel Dumler; his brother Tim (Julie); nephew, Jake (Gabby), and niece Sarah (Nicholas).
A visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Merna on Saturday, November 15 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. with mass at 11:00 a.m., burial and celebration of life to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michael P. Dumler Master's in Business Scholarship. Please make checks payable to: Illinois State University Foundation (1101 N. Main St., Campus Box 3060, Normal, IL 61790). Please put Michael P. Dumler Master's in Business Administration Scholarship in memo line.
