BLOOMINGTON - Michael Scott "Mike" Withrow, age 61, passed away peacefully at 11:02 p.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Ill.
Mike was born on January 18, 1964, in Champaign, Ill., to James and Nancy Newton Withrow. He married Susan Dorsey and later found love again, marrying Hilarie Whitson on August 12, 2018, in LeRoy, Ill. Hilarie survives him.
He was a skilled mechanic and was passionate about boating, camping, and car racing, hobbies that brought him great joy and many cherished memories. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it. A man with a big heart, he never knew a stranger. Mike Withrow's warmth, humor, and dedication to family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his loving mother, Nancy Withrow of Decatur, Ill.; his devoted wife, Hilarie Withrow; and his four children, Stewart Dorsey of Metamora, Ill., Shelby Withrow of Metamora, Ill., Noah Whitson of Bloomington, Ill., and Suzi O'Shea (fiancé Jody Frye) of Washington, DC. He also leaves behind one granddaughter, Farrin Parr of Metamora, Ill.
He is also survived by his sisters, Kimberly Withrow and Paula; his brother, David; and a niece, Sarah (Mickey) Harbin of Urbana, Ill.; along with great-nephew, Xander Harbin of Urbana.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, James Withrow; and three sisters, Malea Sue Withrow, Rebecca Jo Withrow, and Beth.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, Ill., with Rev. Paul Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign, Ill. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the day of the service at the memorial home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to his family to assist with funeral expenses.
