Nadine Delores Adelman
July 29, 1938 - March 23, 2026
BLOOMINGTON, IL- Nadine Delores Adelman of Normal, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026 while receiving hospice care at the McLean County Nursing Home.
She was born July 29, 1938, in Springfield, IL the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Thompson) Keeley. She married William (Bill) Adelman in 1959 until his death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Keeley of Las Vegas, NV in 2023, and an infant granddaughter Mary Nadine Newbold.
Surviving are her seven children: Michelle (Steve) Newbold, Kathy (Doug) Atkins, Tim (Ann), Joe (Debbie), Susan (John) Brady, Billy (Kim), and Vicki (Paul) Hamill. She is also survived by her 25 grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandchildren as well as number of nieces and nephews who brought her great joy.
Following her graduation from Springfield Sacred Heart High School she worked for the Illinois Bell telephone company. While still in high school she met Bill and they started their family together, moving to Bloomington following Bill's graduation from the University of Illinois. There they established strong roots and both were deeply involved in the Catholic community as a founding family of Epiphany Parish and were active supporters of Epiphany Grade School, St. Mary's Grade School, and Central Catholic High School. She stayed involved and connected to the countless sporting, academic, and social activities of her large family. During their time together she and Bill traveled the world and enjoyed a marriage that serves as an example to all.
She will most be remembered for her open and welcoming spirit. Strangers were only friends she hadn't met yet, and all were welcome into her family. Over the years she hosted a number of her children's friends and colleagues who just needed a place to call home. She enjoyed celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and even regular days with her friends and family. She was always up for morning coffee at a local restaurant where she could brag about her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids who refer to themselves as "Grandma's Gang". She was devout in her faith and passed that along to all in her family.
Her family would like to offer special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Carriage Crossing and the McLean County Nursing home who kept her comfortable in her final months. Their dedication to helping maintain her dignity during her final weeks will never be forgotten.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington at Noon. A visitation will be held immediately prior to mass in the church starting at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Catholic High School or St. Mary's Grade School in Bloomington, IL or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
