NORMAL - Perry "Joe" Poole, age 79, of Normal, Illinois, peacefully passed away at his residence at 7:25 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington, Illinois. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 Noon, with Joe's grandson, Kyle Romine, officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the conclusion of the service by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Burial will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Joe was born on November 4, 1946, in Middletown, Illinois, to Harold Dean and Charlene Marie Davison Poole. He married Joan Kay Johnson, and later, on February 17, 2006, he married Shirley A. Pfeifer, who survives him. Also surviving Joe are his four children: Jo-Dee Poole of Cookeville, TN; Kelly (Kent) Biedenharn of Bloomington, IL; Deana (Chris) Stroisch of Bloomington, IL; and Jennifer (Chad) Dumonceaux of Normal, IL. He is also survived by three stepchildren: Justin (Kaylee) Hinshaw of Danvers, IL; Matthew Hinshaw of Normal, IL; and Chad Hinshaw of Kirkland, WA.
