Philip Supple Obituary

Philip R. Supple, 73, of Normal, Illinois, passed away on November 22, 2025. Born February 28, 1952 in Danville, IL to John and Ruth Supple, Phil lived a life defined by curiosity, kindness, and a gift for communication that touched countless people.

Phil proudly served in the United States Navy before graduating from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Communication. His career began in radio at WJBC and soon led him into television journalism at WEEK 25, where he eventually became Director of the News Station. His skill with the written and spoken word later brought him to State Farm, where he served as Director of Public Relations and played a key role in guiding the company's communications during Hurricane Katrina. Phil also shared his passion for storytelling with students as an instructor of communication courses at Bradley University.

After retiring in 2018, Phil enjoyed a peaceful life at home in Normal with his wife, Leah, embracing the things he loved most-music, teaching, service, and the simple joy of a summer storm rolling in while he relaxed on the porch with a cold beverage and his beloved dog Maggie. A talented guitarist with an impressive collection, he cherished making music, attending concerts, and playing in the praise band at Community United Church of Christ in Morton. He spent the recent years working the autumn months at Roth Pumpkin Patch in Morton, driving the hayrack ride and children's barrel train. Phil had a generous spirit and volunteered with organizations including St. Jude, Special Olympics, and many others throughout the years.

Philly will be remembered for his quick wit, his warm and gracious personality, and the way he made everyone around him feel heard and valued.

He is survived by his wife, Leah; his children John (Jenn) granddaughter Georgie, Annie (Charles), and Max (Sara); his sisters Jan (Bob) niece Erica, and Nancy (Jim); and his mother-in-law Marilyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Supple.

Phil's legacy lives on in the stories he told, the music he played, and the love he shared so freely.

A memorial service will be held after the holiday season on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Community United Church of Christ in Morton. Details to follow and will be posted on Phil's Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any considerations be made in the form of a donation to the Glioblastoma Foundation in Phil's name.
