Richard F. Hatzer

Richard F. Hatzer, 84, of Pontiac passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 8:55 p.m. at his residence.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac with a rosary to be recited at 9 a.m. Officiating will be Father David Sabel and Father David Whiteside. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac.
Calvert-Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on December 6, 1940, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator to Louis and Helen (Pickworth) Hatzer. He married Carol Ann Reinmann on June 16, 1962, at St. Anthony Church in Streator. She survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are Caroline (Nick) Sartoris of Pontiac; Carrie Carroll of Pontiac; Martin (Sherri) Hatzer of Pontiac; Douglas (Kimberly) Hatzer of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; Amy (Tony) Rice of Washington; Rich R. Hatzer of Chenoa; grandchildren, Amanda Sartoris, Kyle Sartoris, Rocco Sartoris, Phil (Samantha) Carroll, Josh (Emily Elizabeth) Carroll, Emily Carroll, Rachel Carroll, Aaron Hatzer, Ashlee (Trevor) Keneipp, Cody (Baylee) Hatzer, Ali Barton, Brandon (Haley) Rice, Travis (Sara) Rice, Ashton Rice; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Maverick, Emersyn Keneipp, Braylee Rice; sister, Helen Capko of Cornell.
He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Pat Hatzer, Little Louis in infancy; sisters, Joan Mullen and Mary Kenney.
He was a Cornell graduate, Class of 1958. He was a past member of the Lions Club in Cornell, Pontiac Moose, Knights of Columbus, SAFOE Sons And Friends Of Erin, Cornell School Board for many years and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. He was President of the family business, Valley View Industries from 1974 to 2021.
He loved spending time with his family, grilling, and being together for the holidays. He had great fun in Florida with pontoon rides on the lake and his neighbors. He enjoyed reading, moving dirt, cutting grass and loved his work. Our Dad was a very generous and giving man. We will miss him dearly!
